Little kids can be a mystery- WHY are they doing THAT? WHAT do I do to make it STOP?! WHY won’t they listen to me?
Biting, hitting, tantrums, things that come out of nowhere that are hard to calm, difficult to soothe, or catch us off guard and leave us stumped. Especially in public or around certain family members. Little kids are GOOD at confusing adults. Social and emotional development are the name of the game and we adults can often feel like we are losing the match!!
Everyone deserves to understand and ENJOY their child. Every child really just wants to feel loved and understood. Parenting can look more like teaching and less like doling out punishments. I am here to help you and any caregivers (like babysitters, family members, or childcare workers) make sense of it, understand it, and know what to do with that mysterious behavior so that more time can be ENJOYABLE with the little kids in our world. This approach helps the child learn the social and emotional skills they need to succeed in school and thrive.
I have worked in client homes, in the community, in childcare settings, and in a play therapy office. I have taught Incredible Years Parenting classes and enjoy watching parents connect to their kiddos more completely, knowing they are nurturing deeply meaningful relationships that will last a lifetime.
I am certified in Child Parent Psychotherapy, which focuses on kiddos age 0-5 years who have experienced trauma and is useful in any family system with young children.
Email or call for a free initial consultation of one hour to see if we are a match. The best part about working with young children and their families is that positive results can happen VERY quickly!
